OCEANSKIN Marine Lifecycle Management
Well-maintained surfaces age more slowly.
Lifecycle Management means we record the condition of a yacht's surfaces, protect them deliberately and support them in operation — with care, inspection and local repair for as long as it makes sense.
Why lifecycle
Those who know the condition act earlier.
Sunlight, salt, contact and operation change every yacht surface — at different speeds. Reading the condition before damage becomes visible leads to earlier, more precise and typically more economical decisions.
01
Assess
Condition, material and exposure are documented — the basis for every decision that follows.
02
Protect
Protection is built up deliberately — matched to substrate, use and exposure.
03
Support
Care guidance accompanies life on board — practical and workable for the crew.
04
Repair
Inspection and local repair step in early — without major work where none is needed.
Digitalisation
Every yacht's surface history stays traceable.
Condition, material selection, execution and completed measures are documented for each yacht. Later decisions remain traceable — for owners, captains and yacht management, across crew changes and changes of ownership.
Sustainability
Protection instead of replacement.
Protected surfaces need to be replaced less often, and partial areas can be renewed instead of redoing entire sections. Because hydrophobic surfaces hold on to dirt and water less readily, our experience is that less water and fewer cleaning agents are involved — deliberately stated as experience, not as a measured figure.
Operation
Less effort in daily operation.
Hydrophobic surface systems can typically be maintained with considerably less cleaning effort. Aggressive chemicals are usually unnecessary, and recurring polishing work can largely be avoided.
Reduced cleaning and care effort
Usually no aggressive chemicals required
Less frequent polishing — lower material use
Less water and fewer cleaning agents in routine washdowns
Lower operating costs and less downtime
How strongly these effects show depends on the vessel, the chosen system and its use.
Digital Surface Lifecycle
Individual measures become a traceable surface history.
The digital path does not start with software. It starts with disciplined documentation that supports informed care, repair and renewal decisions.
Documented condition
Initial condition, relevant areas and changes are recorded in a traceable form.
Material & batch traceability
Applied systems and available batch information remain assigned to the project.
Installation history
Execution, test sections, handover and relevant conditions are documented.
Repair history
Local interventions and replaced sections remain visible for later decisions.
Lifecycle documentation
Inspections, care guidance and observations form a continuous project history.
Future Surface Intelligence
In future, a structured history may support AI-assisted condition assessment. Surface Passport and Surface Intelligence describe this direction of development — not software or automated diagnosis available today.
Innovation
New materials are assessed, not simply adopted.
New materials and applications are assessed before they are recommended — from substrate to long-term behaviour.
Who Lifecycle Management works for
Owners
Value is preserved and decisions become plannable.
Captains & crew
Practical care and fewer corrective interventions in operation.
Yacht management
Plannable preservation with documented measures.
Shipyards & manufacturers
Integrable protection and care concepts from delivery.
Charter & brokerage
Well-kept presentation without recurring major work.
How well is your surface cared for?
We assess the current condition and show which measures make sense — and which do not.
