    Comparison

    Film or repaint?

Both routes have their place. What matters is the goal of the project — appearance, protection, time window or value retention.

    Reversibility

Film can be removed professionally. That makes colour changes, charter branding and seasonal appearances plannable without altering the original paint.

A repaint is a permanent decision and changes the build-up of the surface.

    Protection of the original paint

SPF surface protection film adds a layer over the paint and absorbs stress from salt, UV and mechanical contact.

Coloured SPF combines a colour change and protection in a single build-up.

    Downtime and process

Film projects can often be delivered in shorter windows and mobile at the berth or in a partner shipyard.

Paint work generally needs a controlled environment and longer yard time.

When paint is the better choice

For heavily damaged substrates, deep structural damage or a planned full restoration, paint is the right route.

We say so plainly when film is not the fitting solution for a specific yacht.

    Does film damage the paint?

On a suitable, intact substrate with professional application and removal, that is not expected. Pre-damaged or poorly adhering paint is assessed beforehand.

How long does a wrap last?

Marine design films typically reach 5+ years with proper care; SPF is designed for longer protection intervals. Real service life depends on berth, exposure and care.
