SPF surface protection film: durability & care
SPF is available fully pigmented and typically runs 150–250 µm. Real service life follows from material, berth and care routine — not from a single number of years.
What SPF does
The film absorbs stress that would otherwise act directly on the original paint: salt, UV, fender and dock contact, cleaning marks.
Self-healing top layers let fine use marks recede visually under warmth.
What sets service life
Constant sun, a southern berth, frequent charter use and aggressive cleaning agents shorten life.
Edges, transitions and high-load zones are the areas assessed first during inspection.
Care routine
Regular fresh-water rinsing, pH-neutral cleaning and soft materials are the biggest contribution to service life.
No aggressive solvents, no hard brushes, no high pressure directly on edges and seams.
Inspection and rework
Individual sections can be replaced without re-wrapping the whole yacht.
We recommend a visual inspection within the maintenance windows already planned.
How does SPF differ from design film?
Design film typically runs 80–110 µm and serves appearance. SPF runs 150–250 µm, is built for protection and is available fully pigmented as Coloured SPF.
Is there a warranty?
The manufacturer terms of the premium material used apply, alongside our application commitment. Specific periods are stated per project and in writing.
